Maine Endwell and Union Endicott Join in School Tax Program

BINGHAMTON, NYOn June 15th the Broome County Legislature passed a resolution authorizing an agreement with the Maine Endwell and Union Endicott School Districts to assist with the collection and enforcement of school district taxes.

Maine Endwell and Union Endicott become the eighth and ninth schools respectively to take advantage of this program joining Binghamton (which includes Sunrise Terrace), Chenango Forks, Chenango Valley, Deposit, Johnson City, Susquehanna Valley and Whitney Point.

“This resolution will not only save school districts and tax payers money but it will also generate about $12,000 in revenue for Broome County.” Said Broome County Executive Jason Garnar.

This program will remove the burden of collecting area school taxes from the schools themselves. Broome County will collect the taxes directly.

This program will also simply the tax collecting process for the public. On-line payment options will now become available via VISA, Mastercard and Discover as well as debit cards and e-checks. People can also pay on Tuesdays and Thursday in the Town of Union Town Hall on East Main Street in Endwell as well as the Finance Window on the second floor of the Broome County Office Building beginning in September of 2017.
